Your support keeps the Tool Library running, growing, and accessible to all.
We subsidize memberships so our services remain affordable for everyone. As a result, dues cover only a fraction of our costs. We need your help—your money, your time, or your tools—to keep going.
Since 2007, we’ve served our community on roughly $35,000 per year. About 40% comes from membership dues and late fees; the rest comes from small grants and individual and corporate donations.
With more resources, we could:
All donations to WPTL are tax-deductible. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Your company can demonstrate its commitment to community resource equity by becoming a Community Sustainer. Sponsor classes, memberships, or general operations.
Whether you have a lot of time or a little, there are ways to help.
Help with day-to-day operations: diagnosing and repairing tools, calling references, reorganizing inventory, checking members in and out, and helping at events like tool sales.
We offer classes on everything from bicycle maintenance to basic plumbing. If you have knowledge and skills to share, we’d love to have you as an instructor or classroom assistant.
Help steer WPTL’s direction. Nonprofit experience is welcome but definitely not required—enthusiasm and commitment are what matter most.
To volunteer, email us at info@westphillytools.org or talk to a tool librarian on your next visit.
We’re actively seeking tool donations of all kinds—hand tools, power tools, gardening tools, ladders, and more.
All donations directly benefit WPTL and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Important: Please contact us before bringing tools to our location. A staff member will coordinate with you after you reach out.
